The Trade pistol came into common use in the latter part of the 17th century. It was carried by traders, trappers and Factors and was commonly used as a close quarters defense weapon. Thousands were brought to America during the 250 year existence of the trade gun.
The pistol that we produce uses a walnut stoc
k that is inlet for the barrel, lock. trigger guard and trigger. The ramrod hole is also pre-drilled. The lock is small (4 3/4") with a flat face and bridle. The tumbler has a fly. The barrel is 10" long, with tapered flats extending 4 3/4" from the breech. It has one "wedding" band and is breeched with a tapered tang plug. The serpent side plate we use is a "T. Green", circa1668. This is the same era that the Hudson Bay Company was formed. We use our North Star front sight as standard, although options can be discussed at the time of order. This gun is available in 28 ga, 24 ga, and 20 ga. It is a fine companion piece to your long gun. This pistol can be used with either patched ball or shot.
